Julian Bennett<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

9 June 1949 \u2013 29 January 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Julian Bennett taught in the department between 1995 and 2025. He devoted his career to the study of Roman provincial and military archaeology, as well as the archaeology and architecture of Late Roman and Byzantine Anatolia.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Charles Gates<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Charles Gates, a Classical archaeologist, taught in the Department from 1990-2022. In addition, he took part in the excavations at Kinet H\u00f6y\u00fck.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Marie-Henriette Gates<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Marie-Henriette Gates, a member of the Department from 1990-2022, focused on Ancient Near Eastern archaeology. She directed excavations at the ancient harbor town of Kinet H\u00f6y\u00fck, near D\u00f6rtyol (Hatay), from 1992-2012.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Jacques Morin<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Jacques Morin taught at Bilkent from 1995-2021. A specialist in Greek archaeology, he also offered courses in human evolution, archaeological theory, and ancient Greek.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The founder of the Department of Archaeology, \u0130lknur \u00d6zgen is a specialist in Anatolian and Greek archaeology. From 1993-2014 she directed excavations at Hac\u0131musalar, near Elmal\u0131, Antalya.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
